"From the beginnings of our Sacred Roots, the Church of the Living God has responded to the Lord’s Great Commission clarion call to go, “search and rescue” all those who are spiritually lost. In moving forward to multiply She has used unimpressive methods, by the most unlikely people, and yet her impact has been unlimited. The Church has moved forward under the Lordship of Jesus with the power of the Gospel and the fullness of the Holy Spirit bringing liberation to those trapped in spiritual bondage and darkness. All who respond by obedient faith to the Gospel of Jesus, enter into the community of saints as sisters and brothers. The Church has thrived the most when She has aggressively and courageously moved forward in this calling.
Our theme this year for the, Evangel Gathering: Sacred Roots Thriving in Ministry, is founded upon this clarion call - Moving Forward to Multiply. We are committed to playing our part in this, especially among the poor. In the midst of our fellowship, worship, inspirational talks, and informal networking, you will be equipped with a vision and plan on how to use four spiritual classics in a cohort format for one year. The cohort is not an end but a means to an end: to be drawn closer to the Lord in a sincere and pure devotion. The closer one is drawn to Jesus the clearer one hears His call to go “search and rescue” all who are spiritually lost, for the building up of His Church. Please prayerfully consider committing to join us in being equipped through the Sacred Roots workshop."

"In most every business, you learn by doing. The apprenticeship model is much more effective than the classroom for cultivating entrepreneurs." — Andrew Yang
"Discipleship is being with another person, under appropriate conditions, in order to become capable of doing what that person does or to become like that what that person is. An “apprentice” of Jesus is learning from him how to lead their life as he would lead their life if he were they."
"A simple goal for the leaders of a particular group would be to bring all those in attendance to understand clearly what it means to be a disciple of Jesus and to be solidly committed to discipleship in their whole life. That is, when they are asked who they are, the first words out of their mouth would be, ‘I am an apprentice of Jesus Christ.’ This goal would have to be approached very gently and lovingly and patiently with existing groups, where the people involved have not understood this to be part of their membership commitment." -- Dallas Willard, Renovation of the Heart

"Apprenticeship is that ancient system of equipping new and emerging learners in the fundamental principles and benchmark practices of a specific trade, profession, or tradition. It usually involves a relationship with one who through experience and expertise has mastered the trade, and who equips students to learn through personal association with and observation of the trainer's work, some accompanying individual study, alongside real-world training experience. After a period of intense relationship and training, the learner emerges as a journeyman, able to operate with excellence without supervision and, in time, able to acquire her own learners to help them attain similar mastery in the field and practice."

"You can’t be a disciple unless you’re with Jesus. How can He teach you, how can He apprentice you if you’re never with Him? In the days of Jesus the disciples had to be with Him because discipleship is more than just instruction. Oh, they could catch Him at the local synagogue every time He came to Capernaum and they could have listened to Him and learned but to be a disciple is to be an apprentice." S. Michael Durnham
